TikTok recipe import

Turn a TikTok into a recipe you can actually cook

Found a TikTok recipe you want to make? Share the public video with Matlyst. The app reads the available recipe text and turns it into organised ingredients and steps, ready to save.

How to save a recipe from TikTok

Open Matlyst once before your first import and accept the AI notice. Matlyst uses AI to identify and structure the recipe information that TikTok makes publicly available.

  1. Open the TikTok. Find a public TikTok with the recipe written in its caption. Tap Share.
  2. Share it to Matlyst. Choose Matlyst in the share menu. If it is not visible, open the app list and select it there.
  3. Check and save the recipe. Review the title, ingredients and method. Correct anything that needs changing, choose a folder if you like, then save it.

You can also copy the TikTok link, open Add recipe in Matlyst and choose Paste a link. Matlyst keeps the source link with the saved recipe when it is available.

Matlyst reads recipe information that is publicly available with the TikTok, usually the caption. It does not transcribe speech or text shown only inside the video. If the caption is incomplete, copy any recipe text you can access and paste it under Type it in. Private, deleted or region-restricted videos may not be readable.

From TikTok caption to usable recipe

Instead of cooking from a long caption, you get separate ingredients and instructions. Matlyst can translate them into your app language and uses metric units by default. Always check quantities and steps against the original before cooking.

Keep recipes from social media in one place

TikTok is only one source. You can also save recipes from Instagram, YouTube, websites, photos and text. Organise them into folders, add them to your meal plan and send the ingredients to your shopping list.

For all supported import methods, read the complete recipe import guide.

A better way to find the recipe again

A TikTok saved inside TikTok is still a video in a feed. A recipe saved in Matlyst is searchable and ready to use while planning, shopping and cooking. The original source stays attached when it is available.
